Creativa Srl, a UNA associate in Turin, is excited to introduce Sistema Archimede, a project created in partnership with Zelian Srl, a Milan-based consulting firm with consolidated expertise in corporate sustainability across various sectors. This collaboration offers an innovative solution to address the challenges posed by the new European CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive).

Between 2024 and 2028, thousands of large enterprises and SMEs will be required to prepare a sustainability report, directly impacting over 7,800 companies and, indirectly, more than 120,000 small and medium-sized enterprises within their supply chains.

The CSRD mandates that companies exceeding certain size criteria report on their sustainability performance, providing detailed information on environmental, social, and governance impacts. The main deadlines are:

January 1, 2024: Large public-interest entities with more than 500 employees.

January 1, 2025: All large companies that exceed at least two of the following three numerical limits: a balance sheet of over €20,000,000 and/or more than 250 employees and/or €40 million in turnover.

January 1, 2026: Listed SMEs.

January 1, 2028: Non-European companies with net revenues exceeding €150 million in the EU and at least one subsidiary meeting the CSRD size requirements, or a branch that generated net revenues exceeding €40 million in the preceding financial year.

Supplier companies to those directly obligated by the CSRD will also need to embark on a sustainability journey to maintain competitiveness.

Why act now?

Regulatory Compliance: Avoid penalties and sanctions by complying promptly with new regulations.

Supply Chain Competitiveness: Ensure your company is ready to meet the sustainability demands of commercial partners, large clients, and consumers.

Easier Access to Funding and Incentives: Demonstrate economic and social reliability to facilitate access to capital and national and EU grants.

Improved Rankings: For access to tenders and non-repayable grants.

Where to start?

The first step to prepare for these new challenges is an accurate ESG assessment. This will allow you to identify strengths and areas for improvement across the three main areas: environmental, social, and governance. A well-structured assessment will form the basis for developing a robust, CSRD-compliant sustainability strategy. Creativa and Zelian, through Sistema Archimede, are ready to assist companies on this increasingly crucial journey, offering specific experience and expertise in ESG and sustainability consulting.
