During the TTG Travel Experience in Rimini (October 10, 2024), the Travel Innovation Observatory of Politecnico di Milano presented the eleventh unmissable edition of its research, focusing on the trends and innovations redefining the tourism sector. Creativa is proud to have participated in this event as a sponsor of the Travel Innovation Observatory.

Among the many findings from the research, we’d like to highlight some key points derived from demand analysis to identify changes impacting the tourist journey. This delves into emerging trends concerning open-air tourism, food and wine tourism, in-destination mobility, payment tools, and never-ending tourism:

Growth in the hospitality market, expected to reach €37.5 billion in 2024, a 4% increase compared to 2023. However, this growth is more contained than in previous years, signaling a post-pandemic stabilization.

Increase in online bookings in Italy via eCommerce, which now represents a significant portion of the tourism market. In 2024, eCommerce for transportation will reach 67% of transactions, marking a 12% growth compared to 2023.

Also interesting is the evolution in the transport sector, which recorded a 10% increase compared to the previous year, primarily driven by the airline industry. Additionally, air passengers in Italy grew by 12% between January and August 2024, a sign of constant recovery.

Attention to sustainability was another central theme: 23% of Swiss travelers and 37% of US travelers state they seek information on service sustainability before booking.

The conference highlighted how technological innovation and sustainability are transforming destination management, offering valuable insights for those working in the sector.
